ABOUT THE CITY OF FISHER

The City of Fisher, MN is conveniently located along US Highway 2, 14 miles east of East Grand Forks and 11 miles west of Crookston.

We are a Fourth Class Statutory City with a population of 435 and operate under a weak-mayor council plan.  City Council is made up of 4 members elected to serve a 4-year term and a mayor elected to serve a 2-year term.

The City employs a part-time equivalent Clerk-Treasurer and Public Works Director, a part-time Police Chief and Police Officer, a part-time Public Works Assistant and Snow Plow Operator, and a part-time Emergency Manager. 

The City of Fisher provides water, sewer, residential garbage and recycling collection, snow removal on city streets, Volunteer Fire and First Responder Medical Protection, Police Protection, and free notary service to it's residents.

Fisher is also home of the Knights.  The Fisher School is a full Pre-K thru grade 12 school and houses the City Office.

Our History

The town of Fisher, Minnesota is first mentioned in 1875.  In that year, a steamboat and railroad connection was established on the north bank of the Red Lake River in the northeast quarter of Section 21, Township 150 North, Range 48 West in Polk County.
